Arizona squatter law indicates the looming peril for private property owners victimized by squatter camps:
Squatter’s Rights in Arizona | Legal Beagle
If a squatter occupies a seemingly abandoned property and wishes to have the property’s title revert to him, he must meet specific conditions in Arizona, including:
Squatters Have Rights
If a squatter occupies a seemingly abandoned property and wishes to have the property’s title revert to him, he must meet specific conditions in Arizona, including:
He must physically inhabit the property and do so exclusively and continuously.
His occupation must be visible to the public.
He must be in possession of the property for the period set by the state of Arizona, which is a two-year minimum.
If he doesn’t reside on the property but cultivates the land, he must do so for 10 consecutive years before beginning ownership proceedings.
Getting Rid of Squatters
When a claim is made against a title to a property, the legal owner is notified. He has three years to respond. If the squatter refuses to leave, the owner can begin a quiet title lawsuit. The end result is that the state judge can issue an order giving the original owner, not the squatter, legal title to the property.

While checking out at a local Walgreens today a customer asked for a small hand held shopping basket. The clerk replied they are gone due to people filling them up then walking out.
Why not if there are no ramifications?
There remains a sliding scale of justice in Tucson. In a City that proclaims itself an exemplar of fairness and equitability. This coupled with a County Attorney who, as a former defense attorney, works diligently to create more opportunity for criminals to remain so in the name of “novel” approaches and “unique” efforts that have been enacted and failed elsewhere all bodes ill for the future.
Well this video should convince everyone that Tucson not only needs change but deserves it. Get out and VOTE for change.
Not totally correct Ross – TPD Chief Chad Kasmar was Ex Chief Magnus’ 2nd in command during his last two years (DC Kasmar). Chad Kasmar has been TPD chief for almost two years now and was the one who violated our AZ Public Records Request law and violated City of Tucson Admin. Directives. The police body worn cameras should have been released within a couple of months after Chad Kasmar was appointed chief. THIS IS AN ELECTION INTERFERENCE by Chief Kasmar, our city Mayor and Council, and most importantly the city manager and his dozens of city attorneys who said its legally ok.
